L&rsquo;\u0153uvre a \u00e9t\u00e9 expos\u00e9e simultan\u00e9ment sur le site de TOPO et de Mutek pendant un mois, \u00e0 l\u2019occasion du pan virtuel du festival <a href=\"https:\/\/virtual.mutek.org\/fr\/mutek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mutek<\/a> de 2022. TOPO a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de poursuivre l\u2019expositon de\u00a0<em>Selfgen<\/em> par une projection en vitrine en novembre et d\u00e9cembre 2022. Le jeudi 17 novembre \u00e0 17h, lors du lancement de l&rsquo;installation vid\u00e9o, le volet web de <em>Selfgen<\/em> \u00e9tait consultable sur un grand \u00e9cran tactile.<\/p><p><em>Selfgen<\/em>\u00a0\u00e9voque l\u2019id\u00e9e de l\u2019identit\u00e9 queer et de la repr\u00e9sentation de soi par le biais de processus avanc\u00e9s d\u2019intelligence artificielle et d\u2019apprentissage machine. En travaillant avec une base de donn\u00e9es constitu\u00e9e de plus de 500\u00a0<em>selfies<\/em>\u00a0personnels accumul\u00e9s sur son t\u00e9l\u00e9phone cellulaire, Marion Schneider apprend \u00e0 un algorithme d\u2019intelligence artificielle (GAN) \u00e0 fabriquer de nouvelles images d&rsquo;iel-m\u00eame. En manipulant les param\u00e8tres de l\u2019apprentissage et des images fournies, une infinit\u00e9 d&rsquo;autoportraits sont g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s sur demande, qui par leur abstraction Obs\u00e9d\u00e9.e par la mer, les mots et les machines, ses recherches artistiques se concentrent sur le potentiel po\u00e9tique et engag\u00e9 des outils num\u00e9riques. Sa pratique interdisciplinaire s\u2019int\u00e9resse au sentimentalisme et \u00e0 son actualisation par le biais des technologies.<\/p>\r\n<p>Ancr\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;id\u00e9ologie hacktiviste, son travail est souvent autonome, perm\u00e9able et fonctionne en boucle, int\u00e9grant le partage et la r\u00e9utilisation des donn\u00e9es. Iel s&rsquo;int\u00e9resse \u00e0 des th\u00e8mes li\u00e9s \u00e0 la nature et la virtualit\u00e9, en passant par le genre, l&rsquo;intimit\u00e9, la distance et la m\u00e9moire ; son travail explore les fa\u00e7ons o\u00f9 chacun de ces sujets se croisent.<\/p>\r\n<p>Schneider a partag\u00e9 son travail lors de plusieurs expositions \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al et \u00e0 Qu\u00e9bec, notamment \u00e0 ICRA-X, \u00e0 la Place des Arts, \u00e0 Art M\u00fbr, et \u00e0 la Galerie de l\u2019UQAM.
